Government Degree College, Tyuni (Dehradun) is situated in Lesser Himalayan Zone of Garhwal region at an elevation of 1005 mt. above from sea level. This college is located in the hilly tract of interior rural area in district Dehradun and it is situated on the bank of river TONS. The College was established on 29 Nov 2006 by Uttarakhand Government with the approval of three faculties – Arts, Science and Commerce at undergraduate level with the efforts of local communities. The College is 186 km away from Dehradun city.
Earlier, the college was affiliated to HNB Garhwal University Srinagar, Uttarakhand and at present the college is affiliated to Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University Badshahi Thaul New Tehri. The College is recognized under section 2 (f) of the UGC Act 1956. The college has the honour of having the faculties from various disciplines and expertise in different streams of arts, science & commerce and most of them have Ph.D status. While, some of them awarded JRF by UGC and having UGC-NET in more than one subject.
The basic purpose of the establishment of the college, was to extend the education to the most common and poor student of this remote hilly area. The college has been serving very effectively, with the purpose of promoting the cultural, social and economic aspects of the region. The college is sincerely devoted to the cause of social challenges at the local level and committed to their solution.
All the stakeholders of our college is devoted to achieve its vision and mission. The main objective of the college is not only to impart education but also to make its students competent.
